Summer Lover

I LOVE SUMMER. Bring on the heat and humidity. I will take heat during the daytime, as long as I have air conditioning in my car and at night. Living in DC means our summers get brutal; e.g. this Sunday is supposed to be over 100 degrees. I get my inspiration from the environment so whatever starts blooming in spring gets me pumped up for summer.

Summer jewelry can be the focal point of an all white or muted outfit. Blues and greens and tones of sea shell nudes permeate the environment and look beautiful on everyone. Turquoise always gives a kick to other bracelets and coordinates with blacks, creams and tans. You can see that I have combined different shades of blues and greens here but they all vary. My clientele love to layer and have choices for their jewelry, so just adding a wrap bracelet in white or turquoise will make all the difference if you are looking for a seasonal or boho vibe. It's all about what you put together and how you present yourself. Chic or boho, or "Bohochic".
Don't be afraid to put totally different elements together, that's the art of layering.
Off to the beach now for the weekend!

Now that Spring has arrived, most women want to get a jump on looking their best for 2017.
The dilemma is, what's new and on trend? What colors are in for spring and summer? How do I update my wardrobe and find just the right accessories? These are all the questions I ask myself when I design for each new season, so don't feel intimidated, you are not alone.

This brings me to one of my favorite stores, Panache at Green Spring Station where the clothes are selected with the utmost in style. Owner Vanessa Pivec knows exactly what her clientele wants, and delivers it perfectly. From day to night, she's got you covered! (pun intended). I have developed a loyal following with her stylish clientele and made new friends who greet me with a smile. Thursday, Panache's shoppers will browse our Spring collection of necklaces, and bracelets designed to be layered. There are many LAD favorites that endure from season to season, so drop by to start or add to your collection, and please say hello!
Date- March 30, from 11-5

Nude Sunstone is the most gorgeous stone for any skin tone. It makes a subtle statement but shows an elegant touch for natural tones.

Time to Blush

Hello friends and fans of Lori Albert Designs.
Today I start my blog, and journal my design activities while I patiently wait for spring to arrive. The fact that the cherry trees on our street actually blossomed and then froze this week when we got dumped with snow, makes me wonder if we will even see a TRUE cherry blossom showing this spring.  D. C. camera toting tourists beware...
The reason I mention this, is that my favorite palette for Spring and Summer is the combination of nudes, pale pinks, whites and blush. I have been designing with this scheme for 3 years now, so I'm excited to see all the stores showing nude, white and pink tones for spring summer '17. Now back to the cherry blossoms. You may find it odd, but my inspiration comes in weird ways and from odd places. I actually got out of my car to pick up the frozen blooms that fell off the trees in my development to study the color up close. It was pale pinky blush. I held the bloom up to my gypsy wrist of bracelets. That's the color all right. Now for the fashion connection - here's what I saw in Bloomingdales just last week. Blush away!
